Hungarian Keyboard Layout

Follow this procedure:

1. Click "Start", then "Control Panel"

2. If "Control Panel" comes up in "Category View":

Switch to "Classic View" by clicking the link on the left-side "Common Tasks" bar

If you are already in Classic View skip to 3.

3. Double click on "Regional and Language Options"

4. In the dialogue box switch to the "Languages" tab page

5. Here, click the "Details..." button to get to the "Text services and input languages" dialogue box

6. If "Hungarian" doesn't appear in the list of Installed services, click "Add..."

7. In the "Add Input language" dialogue box

 select "Hungarian" for the input language;

select "Hungarian 101-key" or "Hungarian" for the keyboard layout

then click "OK" to return to the previous dialogue box

8. The new language and keyboard layout should appear in the list of installed services now

Click "Key settings..."

9. Select "Switch between input languages" from the “Action” list then click “Change Key Sequence”

10. Change to preferred key combinations

then press "OK" several times in the various windows to store all settings

11. Close the Control Panel” window.  Now start any word processor or text editor program, and notice the abbreviation "EN" on right side of the task bar.

To switch to “HU” setting either click “EN” or press CTRL+SHIFT together on your keyboard:

Press the buttons on the English keyboard to get the following Hungarian characters:

To remember where the Hungarian characters are put stickers on your English keyboard. Alternatively, you can get a Hungarian keyboard with a USB connection and have both English and Hungarian keyboards plugged in at the same time.
