We are a specialist Hungarian language school providing training for both corporate and private
students. Tuition takes place at PLS, in-company and online. We also offer residential courses.

PLS was set up by Zsuzsa Pontifex in London in 1989 and was moved to Budapest in 2003. She has
developed a very popular and effective teaching method supported by her own course materials. All
PLS teachers are trained by her in-house.

The founder of PLS

Zsuzsa Pontifex graduated as a teacher of Hungarian and English from the Loránd Eötvös
University in Budapest. In Britain she first worked for the Hungarian section of the BBC World
Service before setting up her own language school. The distinctive approach to teaching Hungarian
at PLS is the product of her extensive language teaching experience in both countries.

She is the author of Complete Hungarian and Get Started in Hungarian in the Teach Yourself
series and The PLS Coursebook. In the 1990s she set the Hungarian language examinations for the
British Diplomatic Service and the Institute of Linguists in London. As the Director of Studies she
runs all the Hungarian language courses at PLS.
